Our school is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its pupils. We recognise that some children may be especially vulnerable to abuse and that children who are abused or neglected may find it difficult to develop a sense of self-worth, to view the world in a positive way or achieve academically. All our staff view child safety as a key priority and as a school we have clear systems and policies in place to give every child a SAFE place to speak.

Safeguarding

Our school is committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its pupils. We recognise that some children may be especially vulnerable to abuse and that children who are abused or neglected may find it difficult to develop a sense of self-worth, to view the world in a positive way or achieve academically. All our staff view child safety as a key priority and as a school we have clear systems and policies in place to give every child a SAFE place to speak.

We ensure that all appropriate measures are applied in relation to everyone who works in the school, who is likely to be perceived by the children as a safe and trustworthy adult including e.g. volunteers and staff employed by contractors.

Safer recruitment practice includes scrutinising applicants, verifying identity and academic or vocational qualifications, obtaining professional and character references, checking previous employment history and ensuring that a candidate has the health and physical capacity for the job. It also includes undertaking interviews, and where appropriate, ISA and Criminal Records Bureau checks.

The Designated Safeguarding Lead and Mental Health First Aider is the Assistant Head Ms Slater.

Our Head of School, Ms Khan, is the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

The Assistant Head Mrs Slack is the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.

The nominated governor for Child protection and Safeguarding is Mrs Duncan.

We ensure that there is always one safe guarding lead on the school premises at all times.Â
